Bungie have come somewhat under fire recently around Destiny and the decision to give Playstation users access to the beta next month and not including the Xbox systems. It seems though that Xbox users wont have to wait very long to get into the beta themselves thanks to the news, spotted by videogamer, that the Xbox beta will begin in late July. Though there’s no set date yet, Xbox players will seemingly only have to wait one or two weeks to get their hands on the beta.
With Bungie being most famous of course of the Halo series on Xbox, fans were worried that they had perhaps changed their allegiances. Bungie have always maintained that they are not favouring Sony’s systems though its easy to understand fans frustrations. We recently reported on the Playstation exclusive content for Destiny that Sony showed off, which has since been revealed to be a timed exclusive until late 2015, when it will then become available to Xbox players as well. There’s been no news so far of whether the Xbox platforms will receive any similar exclusives.
Beta for the Playstation versions will begin on the 17th of July and, for both Playstation and Xbox, the only way to gain access to the beta is by pre-ordering the game from participating retailers. Sony made a slight error earlier today by perhaps suggesting that the beta would be available to Playstation Plus subscribers but they have since rectified their mistake and confirmed that you can only get into the beta through pre-order. Destiny will be released on September 9th for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
