Long time fans of Team Fortress 2 look forward to one holiday in particular: Halloween. Every year since its launch, TF2 has released tons of brand new content, both fan-made and official, in honor of the spoopiest time of all. We’ve had haunted maps, skeleton summoning, giant heads, horrifying equipment, and tons more. So, with October right around the corner, many people were waiting with baited breath for the next round of news.
However, Valve has just announced that they cannot put as much effort into Halloween this year, as they are already working on several unreleased updates already. Before you start rioting, there is a silver lining: they’re passing the torch on to us.
Until October 18th, the Steam Workshop will be combing through itself looking for any fan-submitted items marked with a “Halloween” tag, and the entirety of this Halloween’s update will be composed of those Workshop items. In addition, those items will not be restricted to specific maps like those in past updates were. Any items accepted into the game now will be available for use on all maps all year round.
Finally, as one might expect, each and every map from all the past Halloween updates will be re-released for play throughout this event. That means all your favorite bosses are making a comeback, but can you handle them all at once?
