John Romero and Adrian Carmack, two of the original founders of id Software, have reunited to launch a KickStarter for Blackroom – a visceral, action-packed FPS set in a holographic simulation gone rogue.
Blackroom promises to deliver classic FPS gameplay reminiscent of old-school shooters like Quake and Doom. The game will be designed around fast-paced combat, promoting strategies such as circle-strafing and rocket jumping on their KickStarter. The campaign page states that the game will feature a single player campaign with approximately 10-hours of gameplay, 6 built-in multiplayer maps (supporting 3 different game modes) and a mod system so that the community will be able to create maps for others to battle it out on.
Unfortunately, there is no prototype or gameplay footage on the campaign page as Blackroom is obviously very early in its development cycle. However, assuming the game reaches its KickStarter goal, it’s set for release on PC and Mac in Winter 2018. A pledge of $29 will net you a digital copy of the game.
You can find out more from the Blackroom KickStarter page.
