Feeling ready to brave the horrors of Outlast once again and return to Mount Massive Asylum? Well Red Barrels Games, the developers behind the much praised scare-fest have announced the release date for the Whistleblower DLC which will arrive on May the 6th in North America, and the 7th in Europe for both PC and PS4.
The new DLC both set the scene for Outlast, but also continues past the original game to ‘show the final chapter’ of Mount Massive. In Whistleblower, players will take on the role of a software engineer named Waylon Park, who works for Murkoff and spent some time working at Mount Massive Asylum. Waylon is the character that sent out the original emails to journalists to try and expose the horrifying crimes taking place in the Asylum. This is the email that is seen at the start of Outlast that draws the original character Miles to the scene.
After spending some time working in the Asylum, Waylon develops mistrust and suspicion of the scientists and doctors around him and since he is unable to communicate to anyone in the outside world due to strict security measures, he sets about trying to find more evidence of the horrific crimes and hopes to bring an end to the organization behind it and uncover the worst of the secrets deep within the Asylum.
To celebrate the news of the release date announcements, Red Barrels have also shown off a new trailer for the DLC –
