With the newly-launched patch, League of Legends has revealed its newest champion: Illaoi, The Kraken Priestess.

Those that read the recent Harrowing storyline will recognize Illaoi as the woman that dealt a heavy blow to Hecarim and his forces, with the help of her god Nagakabouros. Well, Illaoi continues to call upon her deity’s aid on the field, summoning forth its tentacles to rip apart her enemies.

Illaoi is primarily a juggernaut character, with most of her damage coming from her passive that summons the aforementioned tentacles. The tentacles she spawns act as turrets, damaging foes that wander too close. At the same time, her skills all interact with the tentacles in some way, whether causing them to focus on a single target, or even making them rip out an opponent’s soul.

Riot hinted a long time ago at the prospect of a “voodoo related” champion. This might be the role that Illaoi is filling, as the souls she rips out can be attacked to transmit the damage to a far-off target. Either way, Gangplank’s ex is sure to make for a-
