Elder Scrolls Online has seen its first major content patch today as the new Craglorn adventure zone goes live. The free update adds a host of high level content for players seeking an end-game challenge and also includes a large amount of updates, bug fixes and even some class changes.
As with most content in Elder Scrolls Online, Craglorn is a large area designed to be explored though, with this being a max level area, all content here is designed for groups. The regular quests and exploration is aimed at groups of four players at Veteran Rank 10+. Craglorn also adds some major new end-game content in the form of Trials, ESO’s own take on raiding. Theses trials are 12-player raid areas that feature what Zenimax describe as the strongest and most deadly enemies within the game. For their own unique take on end-game raiding, Zenimax have added in a limited resurrection feature which restricts the amount of times players can be resurrected as they work towards the last boss; let too many of your allies die and you will fail the raid, though the loot rewards for those that succeed will be the best in the game.
The Trials will also have leaderboards to keep track of the best groups that clear the content and if your group is on the leaderboard by the end of the special ‘Trial of the Week’ periods then all group members will receive a special reward. For those who are already subscribed to Elder Scrolls Online, a free update of this size is always going to be welcome and will no doubt give higher level players exactly what they are looking for. However, is this update going to be enough to entice back players who have already left the game, or even tempt people in who have yet to decide whether or not to buy the game? If you’re currently subscribed to the game or thinking about returning, let us know what you think of the update!
