Today Activision announced that Call of Duty Black Ops 3 has made over $550m in worldwide sales during the game’s launch weekend.
Activision confirmed that digital sales of Black Ops 3 have doubled when compared to last year’s Advanced Warfare launch, and Call of Duty retail sales have increased “significantly” over the past two years. This suggests that Black Ops 3 is the biggest Call of Duty game since Black Ops 2, which made over $500m in just 24 hours in the US.
Eric Hirshberg, Activision Publishing chief, said players are playing Black Ops 3 for more hours per person than any Call of Duty game yet.
The fact that Black Ops 3 has made over $550 million makes it the biggest entertainment launch of 2015 so far.
