A month after it’s release, Super Mario Maker is getting it’s first “Splatoon-esc” update in the form of adding new functionality. Nintendo released a small trailer in preparation for the update which will come next month. This confirms that Nintendo will, in fact, be releasing updates/DLC for Super Mario Maker in the future.
Five updates are coming to Super Mario Maker on November 4th to add to the level creating mayhem. While there are some throw away ones like an easier way to get to the Gnat Attack mini game, the majority of the updates are rather game changing (no pun intended). Checkpoints are the biggest addition, which has been at the top of everyone’s list for additions to Super Mario Maker ever since it’s release in September. Now you don’t have to worry about how long your level is, just add a checkpoint and it instantly becomes improved. Other additions are changes to the Fire Flower Power Up and new online features as well.
The first free software update for Super Mario Maker drops onto your Wii U November 4th.
