Quick on the heels of Hyrule Warriors’ US release, producer Eiji Aonuma announced on Miiverse that a DLC pack will release for the new hack-and-slash adventure title. The “Master Quest Pack” will be available on October 16th in the US. The details of this pack are not yet known but Aonuma did drop a bit of a sneak peak for Zelda fans. Link’s trusty steed, Epona, will be available as a new “weapon” for Link to use in battle.
Aonuma stated in his post that
“Some of you may be surprised to hear that Epona is a “weapon”, but in Hyrule Warriors, she can team up with Link to attack enemies! I already had a chance to try out Epona in the game. By riding Epona, I was able to blow heards of enemies away and gallop swiftly through the fields, and I had a lot of fun trying out this re-imagined version of her in Hyrule Warriors. In the Zelda series, players never had a chance to tackle bosses by galloping around them with Epona like in Hyrule Warriors, so I hope fans will enjoy playing as Zelda characters in a game with a different type of action than you typically find in the original series.”
He went on to say that the pack will have new “scenarios”, “costumes” and much more. Check out the whole post here!
The details are not yet known but there are clues we could use to try to figure out what could be available. “Master Quest” is directly related to Ocarina of Time, which was a more difficult, alternate version of Ocarina of Time that first debuted on the Gamecube and more recently on the 3DS with OOT 3D. Considering Epona first appeared in the N64 classic, it’s safe to say that the “Master Quest Pack” will have numerous additions from that title. New characters, weapons and stages could come from this pack but we’ll figure out what’s included further down the road.
Hyrule Warriors is available now on Wii U.
