If the recent gameplay footage for The Order 1886 has got you excited for the PS4 exclusive shooter, then you’re in for some disappointment today as developers Ready at Dawn have announced it will be delayed to early 2015. The reasons for the delay, as always, are to add more polish to the game and to make sure that the experience is exactly as the developers originally set out to create.
To coincide with the disappointing news, Sony have released a new trailer that includes commentary from the developers at Ready at Dawn which looks a little closer at what they are trying to deliver. While we still haven’t seen that much information about The Order 1886, the storyline and setting have always been its most interesting features. In this new trailer, the devs talk at length about how they’ve created the alternate history version of London and how much detail they’ve added to keep it as authentic looking as possible yet also providing those few extra tweaks to make it a different, more fantastical place. What Ready at Dawn are trying to achieve is a city and characters that are believable and fit with our own knowledge and ideas of that time period, but they also want to include some fantasy elements and technology to make the game exciting and capture the imagination just enough without feeling out of place.
It seems then that, like most other recently delayed games, The Order 1886 is an ambitious title that had just that little bit too much ambition for its original release window. More news and hopefully lengthier footage will likely to be shown at E3 next month so stay tuned for more updates.
