What will be the Best Games in the Second Half of 2016?
We have official reached the half way point of the year and are about to begin the third quarter of game releases. What does this summer have in store for us in the gaming world? Let’s take a look:
Monster Hunter Generations
First up in Q3, get ready to hunt a new lineup of monsters and harvest them for spare parts. The next installment of the Monster Hunter franchise will finally be getting an international release this summer. Monster Hunter Generations will feature the full customizable weapon and armor crafting system we all know and love. Players can use supplies harvested from killed or captured monsters to build equipment to kill even bigger and tougher monsters.
For the first time ever, Monster Hunter will also include a Prowler Mode which allows the player to take control of a Felyne. The Felyne are the MH universe’s race of sentient felines. Monster Hunter Generations will also include special moves known as Hunting Arts. Each type of Hunting Art will provide extra damage, buffs or even healing abilities. The new Hunting Styles included in this game will gave players even more options for customizing their character and their play style.
Monster Hunter Generations will be released on the Nintendo 3DS on July 15, 2016.
No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky promises one of the biggest open world exploration experiences to date. This new massive multiplayer by Hello Games will feature a universe containing 18 quintillion planets. Each planet is made unique with its own specific variety flora and fauna. Additionally, players can discover new planets, gather resources, trade and interact with other players in this massive online world.
Expand your fleets in order to push even further into the great unknown, but be cautious about attracting the attention of the Sentinels. They do not take kindly to explorers who abuse the resources of any given planet.
No Man’s Sky is certainly making a lot of hefty promises, and we are all eager to see if Hello Games can deliver. The release date has been set for the middle of Q3, August 9, 2016 on PC and PS4.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Next up this Q3 season, one of the best cyber-punk shooters is getting a sequel. Adam Jensen returns as the main protagonist of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Two years after the events of the previous game, humanity has embraced the introduction of cybernetic augmentation. When a terrorist group gets a hold of these augmentations, Adam is called in to investigate.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August 23, 2016.
The team behind the Metroid Prime series is bringing us an all new action adventure game. Play as one of the last remaining humans on the planet, Joule Adams, as she explores an unforgiving wasteland with only her CoreBot, Mack, for companionship. Explore Far Eden, a planet that should have been humanity’s new home among the stars, and uncover the mysteries of the Shivering Sands.
Fight the rogue CoreBots that now inhabit the planet, and hopefully make a few new friends along the way. Your robotic companions can mean life or death in the unforgiving wastelands. As players discover new areas and technology they will be able to upgrade and customize their robotic companions. Unleash your CoreBot’s unique combat abilities on unsuspecting foes, and create your perfect battle party.
ReCore will be released for Windows and Xbox One on September 13, 2016.
Final Fantasy XV
The long awaited Final Fantasy XV will finally be released worldwide this fall. On a distant planet named Eos, Noctis has been exiled from his throne and homeland by the invading forces of the Neflheim. Noctis must travel across the massive open world of Eos with his friends to defeat the invading forces and take back the Lucian throne.
This new Final Fantasy game will borrow some of the combat mechanics from his sister series, Kingdom Hearts. Rather than selecting powers from a list, abilities are assigned to specific buttons. This allows for real time combat. The game will also have a day/night cycle, which will determine which types of monsters the players will encounter on their journey.
Final Fantasy XV will be released worldwide for the PS4 and Xbox One on September 30, 2016.
Did a game you are looking forward to not make it on this list? Which summer releases are you most looking forward to playing this summer? Keep an eye out for these games and many more in Q3 of 2016.
