As of late, Rockstar’s social media has been full of teasers. Now we finally get our first glimpse the sequel to our favourite open world western themed adventure. On October 20th, Rockstar released it’s first official trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2.
It has been over six years since fans were introduced to former outlaw John Marston, a man living on the newly settled American Frontier. The original Red Dead Redemption was a critically acclaimed hit, praised for its story, animation, voice acting and immersive open world. With how long this sequel has been in the works, it is no wonder fans are eager to learn more about Rockstar’s follow-up project.
As of this time, trailer does little more than showcase the blood, sweat and tears put into the gorgeous western world. At least we know one thing for certain, this game with be pretty. The teaser art, featuring seven gang members, also suggests that there will be up to seven playable characters for the online multiplayer. Having a full cast of characters with their own unique set of skills and specialities will allow for lots of options when playing online matches.
We know next to nothing about the story thus far, though after looking at a leaked game map, fans are theorizing that Red Dead Redemption 2 may be a prequel. The locations on the map suggest some connection to James Marston’s life before the events of the first game. Though, this is of course speculation, and could easily be proven false in the year to come. We do still have many months of teasers and gameplay trailers ahead of us.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release in Fall 2017.
