As we all well know, the biggest gaming event of the year is fast approaching. E3 2016 will be taking place from June 14 to June 16 in Los Angeles, California. We are all excited about the innovations in games that will be unveiled by developers this year. But what has us the most excited about E3 this year? Here are a few reasons to keep up on gaming news for E3.
There are not many concrete details about what Ubisoft has planned for E3 this year. As of right now, the only official statement is that they will be revealing a new AAA title. Not a whole lot to go on! Aside from that we are likely to hear updates for Ubisoft’s other upcoming games. Keep an eye out for sneak peaks and gameplay trailers for titles like Watch Dogs 2, South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Ubisoft’s E3 conference time is scheduled to air June 12, 1 PM PST/ 4 PM EST.
After their success in last year’s E3 conference, Bethesda has announced that they will be returning again for 2016. I expect that Bethesda has a few surprises in store for us this year. How else would they be able to top their 2015 show? Some all new game announcements would be nice! Until then, here is what we know we will likely see at E3 this year.
Bethesda has already announced that they will be giving us a glimpse into the upcoming game Dishonored 2. The cinematic trailers for Dishonored have us all excited for the November release. Now we are finally going to get some highly anticipated gameplay footage. We already know from the trailer that the powers have received an overhaul. It’s about time we see them in action.
Likely to be included in the Bethesda conference are some new additions to the game releases from the past year. Fallout 4 has just received its first major story expansion DLC Far Harbor. It is a safe bet to expect some further DLC announcements for Fallout 4. I also would not be surprised if DOOM were to get some shiny new additions over the next year.
Bethesda’s conference will be taking place June 12, 7 PM PST/ 10 PM EST.
Shockingly, EA will not have a booth this year at the E3 event. In previous years, Electronic Arts has had some of the biggest displays at the E3 conferences. They have recently announced that they will be moving their display off-site this year. While it will run in conjunction with the main conferences, EA Play will be treated as a separate event. EA executives have explained that this decision was made in order to make the event more accessible to their fans.
EA Play will take place June 12 to June 14 at Club Nokia near the Los Angeles Convention center. There is no additional fee to attend, but tickets must be reserved in advance of the event.
It is likely that at E3 2016 Microsoft will be unveiling some new hardware, including two new Xbox TV streaming devices. The first device will be a basic Xbox streaming stick which will likely work with the Xbox controller. The second streaming device will pack a bit more power. It is speculated that this new device will be able to run most of the Windows 10 Apps, as well as some more casual games. Both devices will be able to support movie streaming apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.
Much like the Xbox 360, there is a new slimmer version of the Xbox One in the works. The updated version of the Xbox One will be 40 percent smaller than the original, and presumably be more power efficient. It will also be getting a 2TB hard drive, as well as 4K video support.
There are rumors that the new and improved Xbox One will have the hardware specs to be able to support the Oculus Rift. This is something Microsoft has been trying to get off the ground for a while, so hopefully the upgraded console means that this will finally be feasible. There will still unfortunately be a bit of a wait in store for us. The new Xbox Slim will likely be released sometime in 2017.
Microsoft’s conference time is scheduled for June 13, 9:30 AM PST/ 12:30 PM EST.
The console wars continue with upgraded versions of the current generation consoles. It seems that Microsoft and Sony are scrambling to improve their systems to better support the new VR peripherals. Sony has already announced that it will be releasing a sleeker and improved version of the PS4 console. This new machine will be smaller, have improved memory, and feature a 4K video support. We will probably be getting more details on the features of the new console.
Sony will also be using this opportunity to generate hype for the new Playstation VR which is due to be released this fall. It is also likely that Sony will be showcasing some new teasers for long awaited games The Last Guardian, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Sony’s conference will be streaming live June 13, 6 PM PST/9PM EST.
These are just a few of the developers making an appearance at this year’s E3 conference this year. There are bound to be more unanticipated announcements to enjoy throughout the event. For more information on live streaming dates and times click HERE and stay updated on E3.
