The good news from Nintendo keeps rolling in from this year’s E3 conference. Not only have Nintendo officially showcased the upcoming Legend of Zelda game, but they have also released a new trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon.
In this new trailer a few new Pokemon for this generation have been revealed, along with a new battle mode. Most of these will likely be the Pokemon encountered early in the game while the player trains to battle the first two gyms.
Our mission is to catch them all everyone! An incomplete Pokedex is unacceptable! Here are the new Pokemon to catch in the upcoming Sun and Moon games:
Pikipek is a flying/normal type bird Pokemon. Pikipek is able to strike with its beak up to 16 times per second. Its powerful peck attacks are powerful enough to drill through wood and stone. Its confirmed abilities are Keen Eye (prevents accuracy loss) and Skill Link (increases frequency of multi-strike moves).
Yungoos is a normal type, which resembles a weasel or a ferret. Yungoos is almost always hungry and has an abnormally large stomach for its size. It will search relentlessly for food until it collapses from exhaustion. Its abilities are Stakeout (increases damage against any Pokemon switched mid-battle) and Strong Jaw (increased biting power).
Grubbin is the Caterpie of the Sun and Moon generation. Grubbin uses its large mandibles both as a weapon and for burrowing into the ground. This bug Pokemon loves electricity and can often be found near power plants. It is a bug type Pokemon, and its ability is Swarm (increased power for bug-type moves).
Magearna is listed as a “mythical” Pokemon. Magearna is a Pokemon which was artificially created by humans 500 years ago. The sphere in its chest is called a Soul Heart, and if it is removed Magearna’s body will be left lifeless and unable to move. Magearna’s body can fold in on itself and resemble a Pokeball. It is a steel/fairy type Pokemon with the ability Soul Heart (increases special attack when a nearby Pokemon faints).
Battling with other players has been taken to an all new level with Sun and Moon’s Battle Royal mode. This new battle mode is an intense four person free-for-all fight to the finish line. Battle Royal matches will end as soon as one of the four players no longer has Pokemon able to battle, so it is possible to survive the battle but not win the match. The winner is determined by the total number of knock-outs attributed to each individual player.
Players will have to keep a well-balanced team, and use strategy to determine which player is the best target. Is it better to stand alone, or would it be beneficial to help out the player who appears to be having trouble? You determine your play style.
Nintendo is working hard to bring up the hype for their 20th anniversary Pokemon game, and they have had a successful E3 conference. When will Nintendo give us the next trailer for Sun and Moon, and what will they reveal next?
