Customization has always been a staple of PC gaming. In PC games players with knowledge of programming have the ability to create their own mods for their favorite games. Mods can add some flare and fun to PC games in the form of skins, outfits, weapons, missions and much more. Bethesda is aware that mods have been a major part of their gaming community since the days of early Elder Scrolls, and they are now actively encouraging players to create and share their creations. The Bethesda team has been working hard in order to create a system to promote the creation of mods for their hit game Fallout 4.
Starting this week, an update is available on Steam which will make it easier for players to create, upload and search for their favorite mods. There will also be a system for the Fallout 4 community to leave feedback and ratings for posted mods. Players will be able to access all these features and apply selected mods without having to leave the game. Simply select “mods” from the game’s main menu and start downloading content.
Creating mods is also made easier and more accessible for players with the Creation kit. The Creation Kit is the same program that the Bethesda staff used to create the world of Fallout 4. This program will be updated and refined based on feedback in order to create a user friendly system. The Creation Kit download, information and help files can be found on the Creation Kit Wiki HERE.
To download the Mod Beta simply sign into steam, right click Fallout 4, and select the beta from the properties menu. When the game starts up there will be a new option in the made menu titled “mods”.
Even console players of Fallout 4 will have the opportunity to try modding Fallout 4 for themselves. The Mods Beta will be available for Xbox One in May and for the PS4 in June.
